By 1892, Hattori was manufacturing his own clocks in a factory he called Seikosha, from the words "seiko" meaning "exquisite," "success," or "miniature," and "sha" meaning "house." The company grew and prospered, producing its first wristwatch in 1913 and launching the Seiko brand in 1924. Technological innovation has always been a driving force in the company's history. Key milestones include Seiko's introduction of the world's first quartz watch in 1969, and its successful launch, in 1988, of the Kinetic, the world's first battery-free watch with quartz accuracy. Recognized for its technological excellence, Seiko has provided timekeeping services for the Olympic Games and the World Cup Soccer Championships. Today, the Seiko brand continues to stand for state-of-the-art technology, as well as superior quality and refined design. | | | Features: | |

Very disappointed !!!Dec 22, 2011
By Rub3n5 I want to make clear that my disappointment and the rate i gave is towards to DWC ( the seller ) for wrongly advertising this watch. Under the product specification, it says that it has an automatic movement, which means, it doesn't need a battery. All it needs is just the motion of your arms or your hands to wind its "mechanism". As soon as I opened the box and looked at it, I realized that it had a quartz movement ( powered by a battery ). You can always tell by the way the seconds hand moves. Automatic watches, the seconds hand moves continuously while in quartz watches it moves in intervals. Just by a quick glance at it you can see the difference. But what really made matters even worst is the fact that the invoice that came with the watch, states under the description : "Seiko Men's 5 Automatic Watch SNDA63". I will call DWC tomorrow about it. I'll let you know about their response. I also want to say that this Seiko is a beautiful piece and it looks exactly like it's shown in the pics. If you don't care whether it's automatic or not; you'd love it!!. But unfortunately, I only buy automatic watches and I believe I should get what thought I was buying.
Best of all worldsDec 09, 2011

To be true, I have been pondering the purchase of this watch for the past three(3)years now all during which I have wasted time and money on other brands and models (with the exception being the acquisition of the Seiko SNM037 divers customized with a orange Modena divers band - perfect!!).
This model is very well made, functional and robust (not too large nor too small - no overt bling factor to be apologetic about either - as was the case with some previous purchases and subsequent speedy disposals). It speaks of quality workmanship as I would expect from Seiko. Yes I will agree it does have a "busy" face but to be frank, I rather like that. I would caution though that if you are not already enarmoured with diver chronos it may not apeal to you. Notwithstanding that word of caution to such a small and select group (smile), for the rest of us, please note that this piece has immediately become my everyday work watch with the SNM037 being that which I shall wear for play!

functionality and utility not my style.Nov 25, 2011
By John E. Dinger I initially purchased this watch because I like the combination of rubber, chrome and the orange dial. The quality of the watch was a given, so style and functionality took precedence. It was larger than I imagined when I received it. An image to show scale would have been good. The most remarkable thing about the watch it that it's frustrating to read at a glance. There is so much going on, and it's so packed in that the hands get lost in the design. I don't mind a lot of features on the face (I ended up returning this and getting one of the higher end G-Shock watches), but with the depth of the face and the lack of contrast in the hands, it wasn't for me. There is a bit of bling factor going on there as well, and I don't want to come off as being too self-indulgent.
