Both hard and soft urethane are used for a higher level of shock resistance than ever before. Hard urethane on the outside shuts out external shock. A soft urethane inner protector that surrounds the module has a totally new shape that expands and contract as pressure is applied, which absorbs impact and keeps it from reaching the module. The protector is also designed to cover the face as much as possible without interfering with reliability to protect it against damage.
Alpha GEL® is implanted at the 12, 3, 6 & 9 o'clock for inner protection. The shock resistance of the protector and the outstanding resilience of the Alpha GEL® combines to create a totally new type of shock resistant construction.
The buckle is secured on both sides by screws to minimize the chance of detachment when the watch is dropped. The surfaces of the large buttons are knurled to minimize slipping and to improve user operation. The screw fastenings of the band minimize gaps to resist mud and dirt.
A Tough Solar power system provides plenty of power to power the watch's functions, without having to worry about outages. All this packed in the largest case design in G-Shock history for a robust look of strength and power. | | | Features: | |

This is the biggest G-Shock i have ever owned, but also the lightest. You will still feel it on your wrist though. Really wanted the limited edition black & gold version, but did not want to pay the price. Still pleased with my purchase. My only complaint is this G-Shock has the same functions as G-Shock's i purchased 6 or 7 years ago. The screen overlay, colors & design may have changed but the functionality remains the same. How about some innovation Casio? I would recommend this watch to any G-Shock enthusiast. If you want a small watch this is not it! Also Rinx Watches shipped my item with extreme speed. It was a pleasure doing business with this seller through Amazon.com

So let me say first that I'm a ex marine who is used to many g-shock models. I have a 8.25in wrist so most g-shocks look normal/small on me. I'm used to that. But in dress watches I go for the big faces. So I've had my mind set on getting a new g-shock. I've been using the same one (6900) since bootcamp 5 years ago! Still works great (a little weathered lol but it adds character) I'm walking through macy's and I see this big watch! Even I said, Damn that's big! So naturally, I tried it on. I loved it from the moment I put it on. It is considered the biggest g-shock made but it looks normal on my wrist. Definitely made for someone with a bigger wrist and stocky frame. This is my absolute favorite g-shock I've ever owned or seen! It's a must have.

I bought this watch for one reason...it's BIG! My wrists are 7 1/2 inches and this looks great on my wrist. I like larger watches and this one fits the bill nicely. It has basic functions, but I bought it for it's size and looks. I now own all of the six different models of the GX56, that's how much I love these watches. I wear the GX56 models more than any of my other G-Shocks, and I own 18 Casios. A great watch if your wrist is not small.

I purchased a Casio G-Shock Tough Solar GX-56-1ACU and when it arrived the alarms had no sound. I spoke with Cassio Tech Support and they told me to return the watch. I returned the watch and ordered a second GX-56. When it arrived the alarms were also DOA. Casio Support told me to return the watch. This is not baseball and Casio will not get a third pitch. It is a same because the watch looks great but it doesn't function as advertised. Casio and I will part ways because apparently the quality does not exist in the G-Shock line of watches.
